We welcome the book fair to Colville Primary next week. You are welcome to visit the fair in the small hall after school on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday next week. They are running a three for two promotion on their stock.
World Book Day was a huge success. The children and staff have enjoyed developing their reading corners. We’ve had lots of take up for break time reading around the throne. The student costumes were amazing and we’d like to thank all the parents and carers who helped make the day so successful.
Everyone has arrived safe and well. The first day has seen loads of exciting activities for the groups. We’re all settled into our rooms and about to enjoy our tea. For January, the weather has been kind so far!
Thank you to everyone who supported our Pantomime Fun run. It was fantastic to see so many pupils dressed up and fully participating in the event. We have raised a significant amount of money to ensure our students can enjoy the annual Pantomine Trip.
The elves have been busy again this year! The children have enjoyed seeing our Christmas display, complete with igloo and handmade (by Santa himself) shop front.
Thank you to everyone who has already sent in a donation for Harvest. Any remaining donations will be gratefully received tomorrow morning. We invite parents to our Harvest celebration for reception and KS1 at 1:15 and for KS2 at 2pm in the large hall. Each class has prepared a song or poem to entertain us with.
It was fantastic to see all the children coming into school so eagerly this morning. The term has got off to a flying start with the returning students proving to be excellent role models for our new children. We are also pleased that our new playground equipment has been installed. Hopefully the children will make good use of them.
Well done to everyone who participated so enthusiastically in our sports day activities and races. It was such a pleasure to see everyone joining in and giving it their best. Thank you again to Mrs Lightning and all the school staff who ran stations or contributed to the success of the event.
Pupils have really enjoyed the maths activities organised by Mrs Lightning over the last two days. It has been a joy to see the children enjoying their maths skills in a vast range of different contexts. Any competition entries can be handed to Mrs Lightning by Friday lunchtime.
Pupils from reception to year six enjoyed a wonderful performance of Robin Hood by the Hobgoblin theatre company today. The trio of actors kept us all entertained for over an hour and the children really got into the swing of it, cheering and booing in equal measure. I must thank the PSA for so kindly funding the visit and providing our school with such an interesting and lively opportunity. Tomorrow the pupils will be writing a variety of text types in response to the play and we hope their ideas reflect the tremendous skill the actors bought to the performance.
