The Speech and Language Centre is an Enhanced Resource Base. This means children with complex needs have a specifically adapted approach to their curriculum. They are taught the same Colville Primary curriculum as their peers in subjects other than English and Maths. They are supported in accessing these through ongoing specialist adult help during their wider curriculum learning. Their English and Maths learning is sufficiently different to set out here. The following document specifies the types of extra content entitlement the pupils in SLC may experience in addition to specialist teaching in small groups for English and Maths.
We passionately believe that Special Educational Needs are not a barrier to experiencing a wholesome and broad curriculum. The way SLC pupils filter between specialist 1:1 intervention, whole class teaching and mainstream integration means they experience the whole spectrum of learning and activities on offer at Colville Primary School.
