Dear Parent/Carer
RE: Year 1 class
Following my letter on Friday regarding the rising number of Covid cases in your child’s class, we have seen a continued rise in cases, in both staff and children. Thus, from Monday 15th November, Wagtails class will move to remote learning for a period of 10 school days, with children being able to return to school on Monday 29th November. We will keep this date under constant review and if safe to do so will return earlier.
Unfortunately, due to the high number of cases amongst staff in this year group, it is not possible to ensure the health and safety of the children with the available staff. With high staff absences across the school as a whole, we cannot safely move other staff members to cover the Year 1 absences. Hopefully, by moving to remote learning, we will prevent any further transmission of the virus in this class.
If you have other children in school, please continue to send them as normal, but ensure you maintain social distancing. Remember if your child has symptoms or tests positive, they must isolate and not come to school, as outlined in the flowchart I shared on Friday.
We will be sending details of how to access remote learning shortly, if you require support with online learning please contact the school by telephone or email and we will help wherever possible.
At this moment we are still intending holding the planned virtual parents’ evenings this week, but please remember to talk about how well your child is doing and celebrate their achievements and not just about this issue!
Thank you for your understanding in this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns.
Yours sincerely
