Many (all) of the children are regretting not getting a full night of sleep! After many cups of coffee (adults) and the remaining sweets (adults and children) we’re ready for the day.
A full day of activities despite the cold weather. It’s been pretty nippy here but the kids have been amazing. So many personal achievements and children really pushing themselves. Time for hot chocolates and a rest.
We have all arrived safely at Grafham. Despite the bitterly cold weather we’ve completed our first two activities. Loads of children really pushing themselves and overcoming a fear of heights. Plenty of time left for sorting out rooms and then dinner before taking on Grafham Challenge later.
The scores are in and the prizes have been awarded. What a fantastic array of baked goods. Well done and thank you to everyone who made a cake for the competition. All the entries can be bought after school from the kind volunteers of the PTA.
Year 5 have been using some of the vegetables they grew to make empanadas as part of their learning about South America. Even though it was a hot day the students enjoyed the various chopping, mixing, slicing and assembling tasks involved.
Year 6 enjoyed the excellent weather at Grafham water to try out three new activities on the water. It was a really good day and the students demonstrated positive attitudes and some considerable skills at sailing, paddle-boarding and kayaking.
To mark the Jubilee celebrations at school, in advance of the actual bank holidays during half term, Colville students enjoyed a Royal themed tea party. It was great to see the children enjoy being altogether and seeing them embrace the portrait challenge art competition. Huge thank you to the staff involved, particularly Mrs Bond and Ms Hunt.
Year 6 enjoyed their visit to Duxford On Friday. They had the chance to talk to a Blitz survivor and watch a Spitfire fighter aircraft fly.
Children all across the school had a fantastic World Book Day on Thursday 3rd March. In every classroom you were liable to meet fairy tale characters, wizards, Wimpy Kids, a superhero or some well-loved figures from popular writers such as Roald Dahl and David Walliams. The children had a great time with lots of book-related activities going on all day: there were stories being written, illustrations being drawn and whole fantasy worlds being created! We can't wait until our next World Book Day for even more fun!
Year 2 really enjoyed making a great fire of London display using glass jars.
