‘We Love, We Laugh, We Learn’

  • Easter Fun

Thu 29 Mar 2018 Mr Watkins
What a lot of fun we have had today! Staff and students took part in a series of egg related challenges. Miss Lamper won the chocolate egg eating competition. Mr Watkins ate an impressive amount of pickled eggs in one minute and Mr Austin received several raw eggs to the head. The egg and spoon race was won by Miss Christie. All the pupils took part in a massive egg hunt, with Downing House finding the most eggs. Well done to everyone involved and for helping to make the day so exciting for the children.
  • Cooking

Tue 27 Mar 2018 Mr Watkins
The school has been full of the smell of delicious fruit pies all day today. Pupils in Heron class have spent the day trying to replicate Miss Brimson’s famous family recipe for apple pie. They looked and tasted fantastic. Well done Herons!
  • Wandlebury Trip

Tue 20 Mar 2018 Mr Watkins
Despite the cold weather Year 3 had a fantastic time on their Iron Age experience at Wandlebury yesterday. Everyone had a tour of the defensive ditch, ground wheat into flour, cooked bread on an open fire, wove a small model wall, fired a slingshot and learnt lots about life in the iron age. As always, the pupils were enthusiastic and polite. We do hope they enjoyed the day as much as we enjoyed seeing them so engrossed in their learning.
  • Sporting update

Fri 16 Mar 2018 Mr Watkins
Year 5 have had a busy week with two very important sport competitions. Colville participated in the Netball and Quicksticks Hockey tournaments run by the School Sports Partnership. Our netball team won half of their games, improved throughout the tournament and scored a couple of great goals. They finished a respectable fifth overall. The hockey tournament had even more drama with our A and B teams performing well. The B team just missing out on qualifying for the county finals by drawing their last game against Colville A! They did come away with bronze medals and certificates for demonstrating respect. Well done to all the pupils involved.
  • Football matches

Tue 06 Mar 2018 Mr Watkins

Well done to all our students from years three and four who took part in our matches against Sancton Wood Primary School. It was really pleasing to see such a high level of skill on display. The first match was drawn 2-2 with Bobby scoring both of our goals. An excellent save from Daniel and great defending by Jack prevented a last minute loss. In the second game our team proved too strong for the opposition, Colville running out 5-0 winners. Special mention to Grace (1), Alfie (1) and Oliver (3) for their goals.

  • World Book Day

Thu 01 Mar 2018 Mr Watkins
To celebrate World Book Day our classes were mixed up and each pupil was asked to share their favourite book with another child. They really enjoyed reading to each other and listening carefully to the stories and information texts that had been selected. Our thanks to Mr Austin for organising the activities and running the writing competition. Winners to be announced on Monday.
  • Wagtails

Thu 01 Mar 2018 Mr Watkins
Thank you to all the parents who braved the artic conditions to watch our Wagtail class assembly. We all enjoyed the facts, pictures and songs. I know we all really loved the penguin song! Mrs Bond was particularly proud of your clear voices and confident performance. Well done!
