Wednesday was our final football tournament of the season. A massive well done to our squad of year 4s, 5s and 6s. Despite a couple of early losses they worked hard for a couple of decent wins and earned a measure of pride by winning their final placing match in a very tense game through a penalty shootout. With such a young team the hope is they can continue to grow and improve next season. 

Year 2 enjoyed a Great Fire of London activity in anticipation of their history themed day on Monday. It was great to see how much effort they put into their jars and the impressive effect it had when they were combined to make these scenes.

This week we were treated to a brilliant performance of music by the children from Choir.  We had individual renditions by children playing guitars and pianos and the choir sung together with great energy and enthusiasm.  A special shout out to those who performed solos.  Incredible.  The staff felt you knocked the parents socks off!  Now we look forward to Monday at the O2!

Everyone is totally shattered after a very cold and grueling Grafham Challenge. The annual blindfolded assault course was completed in record time, mainly because it was so cold no one wanted to savour the experience! They're all happy, packed and readying themselves for the last morning. 

Today was very busy and tiring. This was made all the better because lots of them stayed up late and ate loads of midnight treats. After a decent breakfast we were on the water and climbing, shooting and riding our way around the reservoir. We’re just in from the low ropes and quite a few are looking quite tired! 

We have arrived safely at Grafham water centre. Despite the freezing weather the students have managed orienteering, pioneering and bushcraft sessions. We’ve just finished having a marshmallow on the fire and are now sat in the common room with a hot chocolate. Let’s hope they sleep well later! 

Many thanks to all the parents and children who put effort into their Bake Off entries. I know the judging panel were impressed with the quality and range of skills on display. The children enjoyed seeing images off lots of the cakes and hearing descriptions of their taste in Assembly. I attach some images of the cakes as they came in this morning and include images of the winners. The cakes will be sold after school by members of the school PSFA. 

This week, the Wagtails have enjoyed making their own elderflower cordial from elderflowers picked in the school grounds.  It was thumbs up all round (nearly!) with our taste test, including many parents and friends from other classes!

Well done to the team from year 5 and 6 who did so well at the Cambridge Sports Partnership Football Tournament today. With three wins, four draws and only one loss they were deserving of their 2nd Place Medals. Well done Colville!
